This year's 23rd edition of Art Rotterdam will take place from Thursday, May 19 through Sunday, May 22. Location is once again the Van Nelle Factory, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. During Art Rotterdam a record number of seventeen large-scale works and installations, most of them specially designed for this occasion, will be on display outside.

Outdoor works Art Rotterdam 2022 has a spring character; leading galleries and project spaces will present a record number of impressive outdoor works on the outdoor grounds. Inside the Van Nelle Factory, more than one hundred leading galleries from the Netherlands and abroad will present work on an area of no less than 10,000 m². This year there are two major innovations: the Projections video section will have a new format, and the Mondriaan Fund exhibition, Prospects, is expanding with a larger presentation of young talent.

Fons Hof, director of Art Rotterdam, emphasizes the social relevance of the outdoor presentations: “Striking this edition is the high number of socially engaged outdoor presentations with references to the world around us. Climate, pandemic and populism alternate with humor and desire.”

Art Rotterdam promises to be another exciting and multifaceted event, where art is not only aesthetic, but also touches deeper meanings and reflections on society and the world order.
