Central Station Breda

DART at Breda Central Station

19-09-2024

Together with the Idee-fixe Foundation (IDFX), KOP is programming the art showcases at Breda Central Station. From 20 September 2024, the blue art showcases will be the scene of the DART group exhibition, which focuses on connection. The exhibition will bring together artists from the surrounding cities of Dordrecht, Antwerp, Roosendaal and Tilburg, with Breda acting as a hub of cultural exchange and creativity.

Located between several cities, Breda Station is positioned by the DART group exhibition as more than just a transport hub; it becomes a symbolic space where artistic worlds converge. By bringing together artists from the region, the exhibition underlines the connection between these cities. This collaboration shows that art knows no borders and that Breda acts as a meeting place for artistic talent from the region.

Four artists were selected for the DART exhibition, each from one of the surrounding cities:

In his work, Jelle Korevaar combines religious symbolism with his personal search for meaning. His kinetic sculptures invite the audience to explore their own interpretations and emotions. His works stimulate the imagination and emphasise human interaction and emotion.

Sien Custers focuses her art on the transformations between emergence and decay. Her work explores life forms and the relationship between humans and other living beings. Custers questions traditional gender roles and offers a perspective on the fluid nature of existence and togetherness.

Joeri Ista creates multidisciplinary artworks that often explore personal stories and themes such as uncertainty, trauma and dreams. His work includes a mix of pencil drawings, photo collages and texts, offering an intimate glimpse into his inner world and the complexity of human emotions.

Chryso Amaya Michailidis combines sculpture, performance and sound to create fictional landscapes where bodies and spaces interact through movement and sound. Their work challenges us to think about the way we occupy space and how we relate to each other in collective structures.

The works of Jelle Korevaar and Sien Custers are presented together in one of the art showcases, while the other showcase is reserved for the works of Joeri Ista and Chryso Amaya Michailidis. This arrangement reinforces the dialogue between the different artistic approaches and themes.

Opening and duration of the exhibition

The DART group exhibition will be festively opened on Friday 20 September at 17:00 at Breda Central Station. The exhibition will be on view until 10 November 2024.
