The Drechtoever Sculpture Park Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a high-profile exhibition highlighting innovation and progress in the visual arts. From 1 September to 17 September, residents of Zwijndrecht, Papendrecht, Sliedrecht, Alblasserdam and the wider region can enjoy works of art along the river banks. The organisation has chosen to organise a special exhibition at the Kunzt Zwijndrecht in addition to the outdoor exhibition.

‘It should be a grand celebration that old and young will enjoy,’ said Bas den Hartog, on behalf of the foundation's board. The foundation, which has been active in presenting art in public spaces for 25 years, has a unique concept in the Netherlands. Where it once started with 25 sculptures, there are now more than 80 artworks along the river banks, all telling their own story. ‘As part of our anniversary, we wanted to look ahead to the future, because the world is changing and with it, so is visual art,’ adds Den Hartog.

The exhibition at Kunzt Zwijndrecht, located in the Oude Raadhuis on Raadhuisplein 1, offers an intimate experience with around 25 artworks on public display. On 16 September, the exhibition will open with an exclusive preview for invited guests, followed by the official opening on 17 September. The festivities will then continue in the North Park, where a festive unveiling of new landscape artworks will take place at 16:00, complete with music and theatre.

Entry to the exhibition and unveiling is free. Kunzt Zwijndrecht is open Wednesday to Sunday from 13:30 to 16:30.
